Gen X PT2

Were you born between 1961 and 1981? Congratulations we are in the same club we are generation X. I found a national geographic series on Disney+ called Generation X and it was like it was speaking directly to me. I want to take examples from it and tell you how it affected me.

One characteristic of generation X that I have to this day is a very huge distrust of government. I want to take a look at where I think that started. I think it started with an event that didn’t even affect gen x directly. The Vietnam war was the first war America didn’t win. Now gen x was too young to fight in or protest the war, however we were the first children that had to grow up with that realization that America isn’t the good guys that always win like the media would like us to believe. Now let’s fast forward to June 17th, 1972. There was a break in at the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate complex in Washington DC. The burglars were connected to President Nixon’s reelection campaign. Then on August 9th, 1974, Nixon quits and just rides away scot free in an helicoptor then gets pardoned by the next president. Now if that doesn’t spark distrust, I don’t know what does. It is no wonder gen xers started things like WikiLeaks and the drudge report.

The next thing we were told is that the Russians were an evil empire that needed to be stopped. What a crock. Governments are all the same they want to rule their people. The last thing they want us to find out is that we are all the same our hopes our fears and our dreams. Yeah, that could be where the loner tag comes in, we found very early that we couldn’t trust the powers that be.

Most of my YouTube watch time is from creators in other parts of the world because I want to get to know everyone everywhere.

Click on the channels below to get to know them with me.

This is just a few there is so many great people working to do their own thing.

One response to “Gen X PT2”

  1. I think you’re right to not trust the government. Politicians all lie constantly and very rarely have the peoples best interest at heart. And learning more about the world through creators from different countries is a great idea. I like to follow people from all over too because I always love learning about them and their culture.
